The King Is Coming
The
King Is Coming 04 22 20
King
David had promised his wife Bathsheba,“
‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall
sit on my throne in my place,’ so I certainly will do this day.”
1
Kings 1:32-24: Then
King David said, “Call in for me Zadok the priest, Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah.” So they came before the king.“Take my
servants with
you,” said the
king. “Set my
son Solomon on my
own mule and
take him down to Gihon. There
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over
Israel. You are to blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live
King Solomon!’
And
all the people shouted and played the flutes and rejoiced with great
joy, so that the earth seemed to split
with their sound.
The
strange thing was that another son of King David had already decided
to make himself king, and he and all his friends were feasting at a
great banquet dinner. But when they heard the shouts “Long live
King Solomon,” they all feared for their lives, because they were
caught in an act of treason.
With
food still in their mouths, they ran and hid. The sad fact is that
even today we will be offered food for thought and may we examine it
closely to see if it will nurture us or poison and kill us.
King
Solomon came riding on the donkey that belonged to King David. He
was a picture of Jesus our King who also came riding on a young mule
while everyone was celebrating the time of Pass Over.
Jesus
had instructed his disciples to secure the mother donkey and her colt
and bring them to him. You may have wondered why there were two
animals.
According to Cornelius a Lapide’s commentary on the passage; Christ first rode the mother donkey up and down the mount of Olives and then transferred and rode the colt into the city.
According to Cornelius a Lapide’s commentary on the passage; Christ first rode the mother donkey up and down the mount of Olives and then transferred and rode the colt into the city.
There
is a practical reason for this. The she-ass would be stronger and
more able to go up and down the terrain. Next, the colt would be
able to bring him into the city easily.
Jesus
very carefully planned the East gate where he would enter Jerusalem.
According
to Jewish literature, the East Gate is where the Temple Messenger
passed through on the way to taking a sacrificial lamb to the desert.
It also remains as an indication of Jewish belief of where the
Messiah (who is yet to come) will re-enter the city on Yom Kippur.
Seleiman
the Magnificent so strongly believed the prophecy that he sealed up
the East gate hoping to prevent Jesus from coming.
The gate has remained sealed ever since. What Suleiman didn’t know was that he was fulfilling another prophecy found in Ezekiel 44:1-2 in which the Lord says, “This gate is to remain shut. It must not be opened; no one may enter through it. It is to remain shut because the Lord, the God of Israel, has entered through it.”

As
Jesus entered the city, the people lay their clothing down, and palm
branches in honor, rejoicing as they shouted, “The King is Coming,”
Matthew 21:9 The
crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to
the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord!”“Hosanna
in the highest heaven!”
There
was rejoicing and a celebration for the King is coming.
The Bible tells us Jesus will return in the clouds, and a trumpet will sound His arrival. All those who have received Jesus into their lives will go to meet him in the air and shall ever more be with him. That day is coming and it behooves each of us as believers to pray for those who are still outside the kingdom to have open eyes and open ears to realize times are serious and if there was ever was a good time to receive Jesus that time is NOW. The words of the old gospel song, goes something like this…

I
am reminded of an old Gospel hymn: “The King is Coming”
The
King Is Coming
The
market place is empty,
No more traffic in the streets,
all the builder tools are silent,
no more time to harvest wheat;
Busy house wives cease their labors,
In the courtroom no debate,
Work on earth is all suspended
as the King comes thro’ the gate.
No more traffic in the streets,
all the builder tools are silent,
no more time to harvest wheat;
Busy house wives cease their labors,
In the courtroom no debate,
Work on earth is all suspended
as the King comes thro’ the gate.
Chorus:
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming,
I just heard the trumpet sounding
and now His face I see,
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming.
Praise, God, He’s coming for me!
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming,
I just heard the trumpet sounding
and now His face I see,
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming.
Praise, God, He’s coming for me!
I
can hear the chariots rumble,
I can see the marchin throng.
The flury of God’s trumpets
spell the end of sin and wrong;
Regal robes are now unfolding,
Heaven’s Grandstands all in place,
Heaven’s choir is now assembled
Start to sing, Amazing Grace!
I can see the marchin throng.
The flury of God’s trumpets
spell the end of sin and wrong;
Regal robes are now unfolding,
Heaven’s Grandstands all in place,
Heaven’s choir is now assembled
Start to sing, Amazing Grace!
