Who is Jesus? Chapter 13 The Sermon on the Mount And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.  And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatics, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. The crowds pressed upon Jesus, trying to touch Him, and as it was often necessary for him to get away to a quiet place; often he went up onto a mountain and his disciples and some of the people followed him. Matthew's gospel relates in chapter 5, 6 and 7 what is known as the "Sermon on the Mount." There Jesus began to teach by saying; B lessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.   Blessed are the meek, gentle and humble person

Who is Jesus? Chapter 12 Jesus was Moved with Compassion

Jesus Had Compassion on the suffering people Who is Jesus? Chapter 12 Jesus was Moved with Compassion Jesus was busy teaching in the synagogues, healing the sick and casting out impure spirits, and many crowds followed him; pushing and shoving to reach out and touch him. Yet He had compassion on them.  What is compassion? The dictionary defines it thus: Compassion is -  A sympathetic consciousness of others' distress; together with a desire to alleviate   it. Compassion is not the same as sympathy. Sympathy means you are sorry for someone and pity them, and compassion is not the same as empathy. Empathy is when you understand their pain because it is something you know about. I believe Jesus also experienced empathy and still does today because He understands your suffering, your fears, your distress and through it all he also wants to make it better and bring you peace health, calmness and a sound mind. Compassion comes from your heart and

These Things God Hates and we should too

These Things God Hates and we should too As a young child I can remember chanting the sing song, when we did not believe someone: "Liar, Liar, pants on fire!" Early in Bible History, there were lies told to Eve by the Serpent, causing the downfall of a beautiful life. We understand that Satan is a liar and he is the Father of all liars. We serve a Holy God who does not lie and He cannot lie, but he strongly detests those who do, in fact the Bible says strong punishment will be meted out to liars. Revelation 21:8 tells us; But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Zechariah 8:17 ESV - Do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the Lord.” Proverbs 16: 16-19 These 6 things God

Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom

Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom As I think about Wisdom, I am reminded of James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”  We learn to have knowledge and to understand but we need wisdom to exercise what we know and believe. After the death of David, his son, Solomon was crowned the next King of Israel, and that night after Solomon had sacrificed onto the Lord and gave God all the glory and allegiance; God appeared to him in a dream and asked him to chose anything he desired and God would grand it. Solomon could have asked for riches or a long life, but instead he requested a heart of understanding so that he might have wisdom how to deal justly with the people. God was pleased because the request was not selfish, but wise, so God said, I will grant onto you special wisdom, but because you did not ask for wealth and a long life, I will also give you that as well

We are Not Crazy

Image
(size of Micro-Chip with all your information on it) We are Not Crazy The natural person does not understand the things of the supernatural, and to a person without Jesus, at times - - a christian seems foolish and even crazy. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:25,27; That the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. We are told in 1 Samuel 21 about David pretending to be crazy: King Saul was chasing David and trying to kill him, and as David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath, But the servants of Achish said to the king, “Is this not David, the king of the land? Did they not sing about him in their dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of th

It is Time to Cross Over

Image
It is Time to Cross Over The very word Cross can mean a variety of things depending on how it is used. For pedestrians there are CROSS walks where it is marked safe to cross the street. A grumpy person may be said to be cross with their attitude. Jesus told us to take up our CROSS and follow him. We know Jesus actually died on a cross. We realize that when a person becomes a believer in Jesus that they cross over from death into eternal life. As we pray over our cities and world and its citizens, we pray that they will invite Jesus into their lives and cross over from spiritual death into a new and living way. Reading from - John 5:24 New International Version (NIV). 24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life   and will not be judged but has  crossed over   from death   to life. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have  crossed over from death to life   because we love our fellow Christians. The one who

Who is Jesus? Chapter 11 Jesus Makes a Declaration

Jesus Sits in the chair reserved for the Messiah Who is Jesus? Chapter 11 Jesus Makes a Declaration We will consider some of the first things Jesus did as He began his earthly ministry. After being baptized by John in the River Jordan, Jesus departed to a desert place to fast and pray for 40 days. While there Jesus overcame the temptations of Satan in the wilderness, by using the Word of God to defeat the devil. Afterwards angels came and ministered to Jesus giving him strength. Jesus was ready to begin His earthly Ministry a nd He returned in the power of the Holy Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.  And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.  Jesus decided it was time for Him to return to his home town Nazareth. Luke 4:16-19 So he came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. And He was ha
