Who is Jesus? Part 24 - - Jesus is Transfigured and Delivers a Possessed Boy

Who is Jesus? Part 24 - - Jesus is Transfigured and Delivers a Possessed Boy Our message today is from Mark chapter 9. Jesus was speaking to his disciples a nd he said to them,  “Of a truth, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” In six days they would see something wonderful. After six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain. And he was transfigured or changed before them,     and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them.   And there appeared him, Elijah and Moses, as they were talking with Jesus.   And Peter not knowing what else to say, declared to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three temples, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And sud

Cares of This World

Image
The Cares of This World I am reminded in Mark 4 of The Parable of the Sower Mark 4: 1. And again Jesus began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea. 2 Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching: 3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.  8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” 9 And He sa

It's all about Jesus

Image
It's all about Jesus Jesus was different than other men in that according to John 3:16; He is God's son and was sent to earth to become the sacrifice for our sins. In the Old Testament, the Priest often made sacrifices of animals for the sins of the people. Once a year the High Priest would enter the holy place and sprinkle blood to atone for his sins and the sins of the people. Jesus came to be the “once and for all” sacrifice for sin, and bring a New Covenant. The Bible tells us in Romans 5 and also in 1 Corinthians 15 Thus it is written,  “The first man Adam became a living being;” (It was through Adam that human life was given to mankind. the last Adam (Which is Christ Jesus) became a life-giving spirit. (When we invite Jesus into our life, he gives us eternal life in our heart – or our spirit.)   But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. ( So first we are born as a baby into this world and we receive life from our

Are you Easily Offended?

Image
Are you Easily Offended?   Did someone in the Church “tick you off, and punch your button.”  Perhaps you need to examine your attitude and  see if you really have a reason to be upset.  Let’s be a problem solver and NOT become part of the problem.   What kind of persons may volunteer to be on the prayer team, worship team, teach children or others?   It seems  everyone wants to minister, but perhaps lives should be put in order first.  For instance this is what the Bible says  about qualifications for leaders and workers.   1 Timothy 3:2  An overseer of the Church, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober, of good behavior, respectable, hospitable, able to teach - - -   Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued,  or fond of sordid gain,     but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.   These men must also first be  proved; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach.    Women must likewise be dignified, not  ma

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Image
Be Filled with the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit has been with us since the beginning, and there are many instances in the Bible of People being filled with the Holy Spirit prior to the time Jesus's followers were baptized in the Holy Spirit. The parents of John the baptist were filled with the spirit 33 years before Pentecost. These were temporary times when the Holy Spirit made himself real and they prophesied. Jesus breathed on his apostles and said receive ye the Holy Spirit. John 20:22. They did not manifest any special experience at that time, but they were born again as Jesus breathed on them. When a person invites Jesus into their lives, he comes in by the Holy Spirit to dwell. But this is not the Baptism of the Holy Spirit but is what all believers receive when they receive Jesus into their life.  The Baptism is a separate experience and brings power and boldness to minister for our God. The Great man of God, Smith Wigglesworth was saved, but his wife did th

Communion and "Separation"

Image
Communion and "Separation" Communion is a time that we reflect on the death, burial, resurrection and soon coming of Jesus. However it also is a time for us to examine ourselves and consider the word “Separation.” Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 6:18 Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I   will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty." As Christians we must understand that we cannot worship God and mix the teachings, philosophies, traditions, that do not line up with God's word; Even those that sound so good but are not biblical. There are beautiful ceremonies and observances that have no basis with the Bible and its instructions. We must go a step further and actually separate ourselves from these and also from other things that have a background in the occult, witchcraft and spiritualism because they are demonic. Let us sepa

The Blood Covenant

Image
The Blood Covenant "What was a blood covenant ? The first blood was shed in the garden of Eden by God himself, and a promise was given that a redeemer would come to save this world. There are other covenants recorded in the Bible and they are all - - NOT without blood, as blood is required to seal the oath. The scene would look quite ominous to modern-day observers—five bloody animal carcasses on the ground, three of them split in half, with the halves separated a short distance from each other. But in Abraham’s time it would not have been so menacing. The arrangement of divided animal carcasses would have been instantly recognized as the set-up for making a type of blood covenant. When God called Abraham out of his hometown and away from all things familiar, He gave Abraham some promises. A covenant is a kind of promise, a contract, a binding agreement between two parties. The fifteenth chapter of Genesis reiterates the covenant God had made with Abraham at his calling. Exce
