I've Got a Secret

My husband and I used to watch a TV show called I've Got a Secret where a panel tried to guess the secrets of the guest. Usually it was their occupation but not always.

If you have a secret that you don't want anyone else to know it is best not to share with certain people, because often they love to tell secrets to others. As a child I got into trouble every time I shared with my sister, because she would tell mother.

Today we are going to examine secrets.

The Bible says God has secrets. You and I wonder why some things happen to good people, why do the young die?? What about earth quakes, cyclones, hurricanes, volcanoes, fire and floods, tidal waves, pestilence, plagues and that bring devastation to hundreds of innocent people?

The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. That refers to what we call the hidden will of God.

Now usually when we’re speaking of the hidden will of God we have in our mind the sovereign will of God. The fact is that some things happen just because it is the will of the Father.  Sometimes the Will of God seems unfair to us, because we don't know everything nor do we understand the reasons behind what is going on. We have to agree that it was God's will for Jesus to suffer and die on the cross, but Jesus prayed to escape this if it were at all possible.   Finally Jesus said, Not my will but thine be done.

There are times when God does reveal his secrets to some who are perhaps a bit closer to him than others are. The Bible tells us in Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets.

And in 1 Corinthians 2: That the spiritual person perceives what God is doing, and the natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God.
Among the mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom of the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God, as it is written: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:18 I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling.

We have been studying about the “Secret Place,” which is where we set aside time to read our Bible and pray to set the tone for our day. This can be our easy chair, our Closet so to speak, or just kneeling by our sofa, where ever we have found a special place to enter God's presence.

This secret place should take us into the very throne room of heaven where God's Holy Spirit is able to reveal to us his secrets. God shares his thoughts with us so that we are encouraged, but at times we understand he is warning us to pray, rebuke, take authority over conditions and situations that may involve harm to our lives or the lives of our loved ones.

In the Old Testament, it was prophesied that there were mysteries to come but no one knew the extent of those secret mysteries.

After Jesus died, rose from the dead, he promised to send the Holy Spirit who would explain to us many things. Paul preached that the mystery of salvation is that the Gentiles are also included and salvation is not just to the Jews. You and I are a part of that mysterious church which is the body of Christ, and we each have a part and a position to fill.

Paul went on to explain that there was another great mystery and that was that now by His Spirit, Jesus literally lives within the believer.  Galatians 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

The eternal God is IN Christ, and Christ is IN us.  Of ourselves we are nothing, and we can only accomplish a lasting benefit of a job well done, as we allow Jesus to minister through us. We cannot proudly claim to be anything of royalty or righteousness of ourselves but only as Jesus works through us, is He able to touch lives to heal, mend the broken and restore people into the kingdom of God.  Our part is to offer ourselves available to listen and obey as He tells us. To be a willing and consecrated vessel for Him to use. To be able to say:  "Here am I Lord, send me."

This is our true identity, and the greatest secret revealed; that God the Father is IN Christ, and Christ Jesus is in us, so then how should we live, move and have our being? Realize that IN Jesus there is no sin, so understand that you are righteous before Him.  All the attributes of Jesus dwell in us and as we position ourselves after being in the secret place, we can and will do exploits in His Name as He ministers through us.

So let us make a renewed daily effort to consciously with determination to enter our secret place, where God himself can download into our spirit the Secrets that are on His mind.

As we pray today over our city, our State, our Nation, and our World, may we allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us according to the will of the Father, and not our own desires.
May I urge you to humbly ask that God's perfect will be done on our earth as it is in Heaven.
