Who is Jesus? Chapter 44 - A Woman Anoints Jesus for his burial. Jesus knew his time was drawing near to his death, and He was attempting to prepare His followers about his sacrifice soon to happen.  He was also teaching about His second coming and about the signs to be revealed in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth. This would include distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the evil times.  People will faint with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.   Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” So also, when you see these things happening, understand that the kingdom of God is near. Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” This is so important for us to conside

Thirty Pieces of Silver Who is Jesus? Chapter 43  Jesus Reveals the Time of His Crucifixion is Near. When Jesus had finished teaching the crowds in the temple, he said to his disciples, “You know that after two days the feast of the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” Now his disciples heard those words “to be crucified,” but they did not understand that Jesus would soon die like a lamb brought to the slaughter at the Passover feast, so they sloughed off his words. Isn't that like many of us when we know that down deep in our inner person, the Holy Spirit is speaking to us, and we choose to not pay attention and go our own stubborn way? Often Jesus is saying, “Come Closer,” because He wants to share something intimate and special with you.” Are you listening? You will remember the celebration of the Passover was a reminder of how the Children of Israel were delivered from their slavery in Egypt. The final plague of the 10 plagues

Who is Jesus? Chapter 42 “The Rich Man and Lazarus” from Luke chapter 16 Jesus had been teaching and The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard his message, but they ridiculed him.  And Jesus said to them,  “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For when you exalt yourself in the eyes of men, know that it is an abomination in the sight of God. Jesus explained that He had been preaching the good news of the kingdom of God, and many tried to force their way into it by trying to be good enough. But Jesus said, to believe on Him as the Messiah was the only way to enter into God's kingdom. The goodness and works would follow salvation and not become the entry point. Jesus began to tell about a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.   And at his gate laid a poor beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores,   who desired to be fed with crumbs t hat fell from the rich man’s ta

W ho is Jesus? Chapter 41 “Jesus the Good Shepherd” Today we will consider Good Shepherds and the characteristics of a Good Shepherd?  While we think about shepherds we will also consider Jesus as a good shepherd. A good shepherd loves his sheep and develops a close, intimate relationship with them so that they know his voice and trust him. A good Shepherd understands the needs of the sheep better than they do, He Realizes what threatens sheep and what makes them sick.  He sets limits. And makes sure the sheep have a safe resting place - - - He shows the way.   Differently than other types of shepherds, a shepherd of sheep goes in front, and they follow ... He wants the best for the sheep. A shepherd guides the sheep into green pastures and quiet water. . He is sacrificial and - - He values relationships. … Many of us are familiar with the 23rd Psalm; “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside

Who is Jesus? Chapter 40 Don't Worry and be Ready (taken from Luke's Gospel chapter 12.) We live in terrible times; and for many it is a fearful time not knowing what the future holds. For many there is much fear about the unknown, but I am reminded of the beautiful song that goes something like this; “ I don't know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day. I don't borrow from its sunshine, For its skies may turn to gray. I don't worry o'er the future, For I know what Jesus said.   And today I'll walk beside Him, For He knows what is ahead. Many things about tomorrow  I don't seem to understand But I know who holds tomorrow, And I know who holds my hand.” As Jesus was teaching, thousands of people gathered together, pushing and shoving and trampling on one another. Jesus began by saying to his disciples, beware of the leaven (ferment) of the Pharisees, for it is hypocrisy. producing unrest and trouble. (They professed holiness, but
