Baptism in the Holy Spirit (continued) Lesson 12

Baptism in the Holy Spirit (continued) Lesson 12

What are the Prerequisites to receive the Holy Spirit Baptism?

  1. As we discussed, the unsaved cannot receive, however every believer can receive.

  2. Surrender to the Baptizer - -

Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. (Luke 3:16 ) John answered saying, "I indeed baptize you with water, but the One mightier than I comes, of whom I am not worthy to untie the strap of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire - -

As we yield to the one who baptizes us in water; so that he may put us under - - - so we must also yield to Jesus so that He may baptize us with the Holy Spirit.

How do we receive?

We receive by faith, that is to believe that what God said is the truth. To Have NO reservation, no carnal doubts, and to trust God's integrity.

Galatians 3:2 –Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?  Gal 3: 13-14 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Like any Gift, we don't receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit by works. We simply receive from the giver.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

We receive by Asking:

Luke 11:9-13 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Always remember; receiving is an act of our will. God does not force us to receive any of His gifts.

Note: The Holy Spirit is a Gentleman; therefore he will always cause you to be a Gentleman or a Lady. He will NEVER tell you to do anything contrary to this. He will NEVER tell you to be rude or obnoxious.

The Holy Spirit, always will guide, lead, direct, instruct, teach, comfort, help, prompt, - - - - -

but He will NEVER - - - push, shove, force, demand, control, drive, or take over to make you do something.
The spirit is subject to the prophets. Your will is involved.

If you ever “Feel,” just an “over whelming” a pressure to make a decision in life, - - - put on the brakes.... it is not the Holy Spirit. (This is a trick of the enemy.” It is not demon possession, but the enemy attacks our thoughts.) Just quiet yourself and do not act quickly. And - -

Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, for the Next Step. Ask the Father; “What do I do now?”

When you are not sure what to do; it is because we have need of growth and maturity.  Growth takes time.

Hebrews 10:35-36 So do not throw away your confidence, as it holds a great reward. You need to persevere, so that after you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.

Perfection takes time; James 1:1 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to everyone generously without a rebuke, and it will be given to him.

Develop and train your human spirit by the Word of God, so that we may then trust our own human spirit. God speaks to your spirit. Our spirit passes that information to our mind.

If it is the Word of God; it is not weird. If it is weird - - - it is not the word from God.

Read the Word of God, Study the Word, Meditate on the Word, Practice the Word.

Speak - - Pray - - Praise - - Sing - - the Word of God

Let the Word of God have First Place in you.

Decide to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and learn to be sensitive to His voice. Learn to form a working relationship with the Holy Spirit and a WALK with Him.

The things of God are not for a “show”. Be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit by acting foolishly. It is a shame that the Holy Spirit has to often put up with nonsense in us in our childish and willful actions at times. He is patient and will gently lead us, but we must at all times yield to the will of God, not our own ideas or plans.

Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

We will actually develop into a personality change, as we become more like Jesus, with his attitudes, desires and his attributes of Truth, Love, Joy and Peace.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Desire the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, ask in faith, and receive.
