BIBLE FOUNDATIONS – Salvation Lesson 5

BIBLE FOUNDATIONS – Salvation Lesson 5

As Christians we begin to walk in the Spirit. We learn to be directed by the Holy Spirit in us.

Jesus took us out of our former bandage and delivered us into the Kingdom of God.

Ephesians 2:14 NLT But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

God's Plan of Salvation includes: A Body, A Name, Blood, A High Priest and a Baptizer.

BODY: Isaiah 53:4-5  NKJV Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

BLOOD: 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

NAME: Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

BAPTIZER: Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

HIGH PRIEST: Hebrews 2:17 NLT: "Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people."

God's Plan of Salvation also includes the Holy Spirit working with us, as comforter, teacher and Friend. He helps us to pray, He provides special anointed gifts with power and the Holy Spirit provides direction and help.

1 Corinthians 12 outlines the Holy Spirit gifts: The word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of God's knowledge through the same Spirit, to another special faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

We are to cultivate Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, meekness, self-control.  Against such there is no law

The Holy Spirit is Our Teacher: Jesus was speaking in John 14:26

But the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

(This is why it is good to pay attention to your preacher, teacher and also thoughtfully read your Bible - - so that there is something in your inner man for the Holy Spirit to remind you of when you need it.)

The Holy Spirit brings Power: Acts 1:8 (edited) But you shall have Power after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses of this so great Salvation in your home town, surrounding areas and even onto the utter most parts of the earth.

There is supernatural power to our prayers when we use our prayer language;

Jude 1:20  But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words.

Jesus began a wonderful thing when he saved our spiritual man, however, that was not the end of his ministry to us. Both He and the Holy spirit continue to minister to us this “Great Salvation” as we have noted.

The very word “Salvation,” means to be: Saved, healed, preserved, to do well, to be in health, to be whole and delivered. Salvation is NOT just for our Spirit. Salvation is for the total man, Spirit, Soul and Body.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also prospers.

All prosperity comes from obedience to God's word and in many cases using common sense about taking care of our bodies and also using wisdom in our finances. True prosperity is having more than enough.

However, it is one thing to have legal rights and another to be a partaker of the things our legal rights provide. This walk with Jesus means through the power of the Holy Spirit Salvation is a walk of faith. So then in order to be a partaker in all of the things of God, we must believe, and receive.

We entered into the Kingdom of God by faith in Christ Jesus, and we continue to be partakers of the good things of God's Kingdom by faith.

      1. God provides even our faith: Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you. Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

      2. God desires us to see ourselves as He sees us. He wants us to know His truth and be set free from error and wrong thinking. He desires us to have our minds and our thoughts straightened out.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 1:17-19 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:   The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

        3. Our total man is changed as we understand the Word and our thought life is directed by what God says, and not by our emotions or natural thinking.

According to Ephesians 4:18 The natural Man has their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling,  They have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

Working out your own Salvation does not mean you are saved by works, but it means a walk of faith is work at times. As we abide in Christ, keeping our feet planted on the solid rock be assured that the Holy Spirit is there to help us. It is a daily walk.

We will draw water out of the well of this great salvation: Isaiah 12:3 Behold, God is  my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.

We are to draw water from the wells of Salvation. The simple explanation of you having a part in your salvation is this: Babies, need milk baby food and care if they are to grow and develop. We as believers must grow up and mature in Christ. Practicing the presence of God in the Secret place is a must for growing your faith and your gifts.

If you are not already setting aside time for God in your day, it would be a good thing to make a quality decision to begin meeting God early each morning to read and study your Bible, and to pray and worship our Lord and Savior.
