You are Important - - YOU Matter to God

You are Valuable and Precious in God's Sight

You are Important - - God Knows Your Name

Many in the Bible were never named, but they were important nevertheless. Others were mentioned by name in a few brief comments, but that is all we ever heard about them.

In the book of 2 Kings 4; we read of a “Certain Woman” A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. But the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”

So Elisha said to her, “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maid servant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” Listen carefully and follow through with what I tell you - - -

Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. The woman and her sons did so, and Elisha said, now pour the oil into the vessels then go and sell it to pay your debt and you shall be able to live off the rest.

In the same chapter of 2 Kings 4, we find Elisha traveling to the city of Shunem, where there was a “Notable” woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lamp stand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”

And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. Then he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him. And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’ ” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.” So he said, “What then is to be done for her?”

(Not Elisha's servant Gehazi was more practical and he answered, “Actually, she has no son, as she is barren and her husband is old.” So Elisha said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway he said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And it was so.

Noted here that Elisha was once a servant to Elijah, and because of his faithfulness and not letting go, he moved into Elijah's place after the chariot of fire took Elijah to heaven. Elisha began as a humble nobody; he was only a servant.  Now notice that Elisha as he is now a prophet - has a servant and we know his name as Gehazi, who was no doubt being groomed to be the next prophet.  Sadly Gehazi failed because he coveted and acted on the temptation to take of that which was forbidden.  This was NOT God's plan for Gehazi, but he messed up big time.   May we understand that God's plans for you are good, but it not God, but you yourself who can mess up what God wants to do in elevating you.  How you ask?  By simple disobedience to what God is asking you to do about certain things.  What has God been speaking to you about? It may be just the time to take care of it and not delay because your very advancement depends on you surrendering to God's will.

There was a “Certain” Hebrew captive maidservant to Naaman's wife who shared with her mistress that if only Naaman would go to the Prophet in Israel, he would be healed of his deadly disease.

Many in the Bible were not named, never the less they were important and were mightily used of God as they were lifted up from obscurity. Although they were not recognized by name, yet they were highly favored.

I declare to you this day, that you friends who are listening to me now, may consider yourself to be a “certain” individual, not famous or well known to the world, but let me tell you that GOD knows your name and he desires to meet you in the secret place - - just you and God. Even if NO one else knows your name, God does, and He thinks you are mighty special to Him. You may not be honored by those around you, but God elevates you to sit with him in heavenly places. You can't get it much better than that !!

Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Keep humble and do not seek your own importance.

Jesus suggested in Luke 14:10 But when you are invited to an event, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.

When we give offerings, or do kind deeds, we are to as much as possible, to keep it a secret, because God is the one that it is important to know what you are doing. You can't keep your good deeds hidden from God, and we know that He keeps records. You may not receive a trophy award here on earth, but the gold stars are being recorded in his book about you.

You hear the phrases, that “Blue Lives matter, that black Lives matter,” that all lives matter; and I tell you that your prayers over your family, your city and your Nation, do MATTER and you shall be honored in the courts of heaven for your faithfulness.

We meet often to pray over our citizens, may I remind you that here in our city walking the streets with the homeless, are CERTAIN nameless individuals who are being singled out by God to become brothers and sisters IN Christ Jesus, right along side of you and me. God knows their name and as we pray telling God to reveal to them the very person He desires them to be, that they will respond and invite Jesus into their lives. And they shall enter the King's palace and be son's and daughter's of the King.

Oh Lord, let there be many New Names written down in Glory even this day !!
