And the Walls Came Tumbling Down

And the Walls Came Tumbling Down

You may remember the story of the Jericho walls that kept the Children of Israel, from entering the promised land? In our lives there are often walls that prevent us for entering into the fullness of our reward and all God has waiting for us.

Joshua had been instructed by God to have the people march around the walls - - silently - - not saying a word for 6 days. They were to just follow the priests who were leading the group of at least two and a half million persons as they marched. (I have often wondered if all those feet - - keeping step with one another didn't send a message to the ground under their feet - - to shake those walls a bit.)

Each day they silently marched around those walls, and then they left for their camp until the next day.

At one time God promised Abraham that every where his feet touched the ground that God would give him that portion. Today, as we walk to do our shopping, or drive our car over regions in our land, we can claim that scripture, and claim those areas of our city for God. When I speak of Land, you understand we are talking about People coming to Jesus. Claim that where ever you walk, God will be speaking to souls who need him so badly.

Now Joshua had different instructions for the 7th day. I wonder what day of the week that was? Was it the Lord's day? After the march was completed, It was a time to shout, because by the mighty hand of God, the walls sunk down flat - - like an elevator going down, so the people could just walk right in and take over the city.

Sometimes during our 6 day week, we pray at home, not making a big fuss, but on day 7 when we congregate with our church buddies, we shout for the victory has been won.

Luke 18: Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Will Jesus find enough faith in us, that he can say, this child of mine comes ONCE - - believes me, and trusts me, so that I see her or his faith, and I love them enough to grant their request, for I see them being thankful for the answer that they haven't even yet seen.

Mark 8: beginning at verse 22; At times even Jesus prayed more than once. On a certain occasion, He came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to him, and begged him to touch him. He took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village. When he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything. He looked up, and said, “I see men; and they are like trees walking.” Then again Jesus laid his hands on his eyes. And his eyes were restored, and he saw everyone clearly.

There are times it might be good if we would change our habits of prayer, other than our usual methods. We get so used to praying certain ways with our rote prayers, and it would be good to vary and take a different approach to God.

Here in our meetings we have examined various ways of praying - often we pray with declarations, as we make a proclamation asking God to create those things that be not as though they are. We have experimented with singing our prayers, using our prayer language. We have danced or swayed a bit as we prayed our requests. We have prayed silently as we agreed with others who are using their voice to pray.

So allow God to show you creative ways for you pray to over your family, your household, your work related activities, and if God tells you to march, then march. If God tells you to be persistent, than keep at it until you are assured that the answer is on it's way.

When an intercessor goes to prayer, they sense a heavy burden, often not knowing who or what it is all about. They “feel” the intense need and earnestly pray – usually with their heavenly language; until the burden finally seems to lift. It is then they will understand that the answer is either done right then, or is on its way.

At times it is good to keep a journal, to write down your prayers, and your requests.  Add to your list the names of those you are praying for.

One of my friends was desiring a husband, and she wrote down a list of qualities that she wanted in a Christian husband. She offered her list to the Lord, and it was not a long time, but some time did pass, and she was introduced by a friend to a man who later became her husband. Did he meet her expectations, - - well honestly, I must say he met most of them .... after all we are human.

We are quickly approaching a New year and there are many of us who will make New Years resolutions. Let us do more than that. Let us make a New Year List of what we want God to do in and for us!

Write it down, and create a list of how much closer you desire to be with Jesus. List all the gifts of the Holy Spirit that you are coveting. (Paul said is okay to covet earnestly the best gifts of the Holy Spirit) – and which is the best gifts? Well it is the gift needed at the time, for you see all the gifts are available to those who will earnestly ask God for them.)

Make that written List – jot down all of your Spiritual desires and goals for the New Year.  Tell God that you are willing to obey what ever he instructs you to do - - to in order to obtain those goals.

Be persistent. Read your list often. Speak it out loud so you can hear yourself reading it. The Bible tells us that Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing. Let yourself hear what you have written.

May this New year bring us victories that are in the making, for the answers are simply waiting for us to shout so that the walls may come tumbling down.
