Bible Foundations: Subject: Tithing and Giving Lesson 21

Bible Foundations: Subject: Tithing and Giving Lesson 21 When we begin to speak about money and giving to the work of God, many people immediately close their minds. Tithing is considered such a radical approach to the support of God's work that most people who call themselves Christians reject it. To tithe is to give 10% of one's gross income. The Bible says to bring in the “first fruits of all your increase” Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase. Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. If people tithed on their net, after taxes, utilities, rent, payments, etc, were taken out, most would have nothing left to tithe on. Tithing was before the Law was given and did not begin with the Law.  It was instituted before the Law and continued over into that period as a part of the Law. Abraham tithed to God by...

Who is Jesus? Part 24 - - Jesus is Transfigured and Delivers a Possessed Boy

Who is Jesus? Part 24 - - Jesus is Transfigured and Delivers a Possessed Boy Our message today is from Mark chapter 9. Jesus was speaking to his disciples, and he said to them, “Of a truth, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” In six days, they would see something wonderful, just a taste of Heaven and the Kingdom of God. After six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain. And he was transfigured or changed before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them.  And there appeared him, Elijah and Moses, as they were talking with Jesus.  And Peter not knowing what else to say, declared to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three temples, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." Then a clou...

Eternal Life – The God Kind of Life

Image
Eternal Life – The God Kind of Life -   When God Created the heavens and the earth, he moved everything into place with His Words. And God saw that it was good.  On day six, God said, “Let us make man after our own image.” Man would be in the likeness of God, with all of His attributes including leadership and dominion over the animals and all of creation.  So God formed man from the dust of the earth, carefully and intricately creating every cell, nerve, organ and the workings of the body functions to be perfect, including an awesome immune system to keep man well and healthy, and a mind with the power of choice.  So here we have man, a mud pie, but there was no life in him. And the Bible says, God who is “Everlasting Life,” Himself, breathed on the man, and he became a living soul. The very living breath of God, entered the man at that moment and he received eternal life. God knew it was not good for man to be alone, so he caused him to sleep, and took from...

Praise: Lesson 20

Image
Praise Lesson 20 How Should We Praise God?   1. We should praise the Lord in Song. In joyful music. “Words” and an attitude of gratitude are important.   Some hymns and choruses are not praise but are testimonies telling a story of the dark past and how Jesus brought light and freedom. While this is okay, these types of songs are not praise.   Praise is joyfully singing about how great is our God.   Psalms 66:1-2 Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!  Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious.   Psalms 95:1 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.   Isaiah 12:5 Sing unto the Lord; for he has done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.  Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishin...

Who is Jesus? Chapter 23 - - Jesus asks; Who do you Say I am?

Who is Jesus? Chapter 23 - - Jesus asks; Who do you Say I am?    Today I want to take you to some happenings that are recorded in Matthew chapter 15 and 16 and also in Mark chapter 8. Everywhere Jesus went he was pushed and prodded as people tried to reach out and touch him. Jesus often needed to get away from the crowds to rest. At this time hoping for some rest and solitude, Jesus went up on the mountain and sat down to rest.  However, here came great crowds of people, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many other problems.   Without  hesitation, they put them at his feet, and he healed them, so that the crowd marveled; and they glorified the God of Israel. Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." And the disciple...

PRAISE Lesson 19

Image
Subject: PRAISE Lesson 19 Prayer Asks - - but Praise Receives Praise can best be described as the expression of reverence and love due to a perfect and holy God. Gratitude is from our heart telling God that we love him, we are thankful for all He has done, such as provision, care and protection, but gratitude and being thankful is not the same as Praise. Pure praise does not require an emotional fervor. However, it is necessary to realize a display of emotion to God in praise, is perfectly acceptable and even desirable. Emotions are proper and important in their place, for they are given to us by an emotional God. However, a life-style based upon emotions and “feeling” rather than faith is not acceptable and is very dangerous. Let the “Word of God” have first place in your life. Build your life on God's sayings by hearing and DOING. Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whoever HEARS these sayings of Mine, and DOES them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on ...

Who is Jesus? chapter 22 Jesus Heals a young girl and Opens Deaf Ears.

Image
Who is Jesus? chapter 22 Jesus Heals a young girl and Opens Deaf Ears. Our message today is taken from Mark's gospel chapter 7. When their boat had crossed over, they came to the land at Gennesaret. And the people immediately recognized Jesus and ran about the whole region to bring the sick people to where he was. And wherever he came, to the villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the market places and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched him were made well. Now when the Pharisees with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem, they criticized Jesus and his disciples for not washing their hands in the traditional manner before eating. Please understand it is always good to wash your hands before you eat. Jesus was concerned about needless tradition because The Pharisees and all the Jews did not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of...
