Who is Jesus? Chapter 55 Jesus said, “See the Nail Prints in my Hands and Feet”

Reviewing that on the road to Emmaus, Jesus walked and talked with two of his two followers but they did not recognize him. He asked them why they were so sad and they told him all that had happened. Jesus began to explain from the Scriptures that this all was prophesied many years ago, and the two men wondered. Still they did not recognize Jesus.

Finally they stopped at the hotel and Jesus acted as if he was going to travel further, but they requested that he stop and have a meal with them. As they ate, Jesus took the bread and blessed it, and the two men were amazed. Suddenly their eyes were opened to recognized him. Then to their surprise, He disappeared right in front of them, As they pondered all this; they decided not to spend the night in the hotel, but to return as quickly as they could to Jerusalem to tell the others. They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”

Arriving back at Jerusalem, they found the disciples and others gathered together with the doors locked because they feared the Jews. Then they told what had happened on the road to Emmaus, and how Jesus was known to them in the breaking of the bread and how he vanished from their sight.

As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were extremely frightened and thought they saw a ghost, because they knew the doors were locked.

And Jesus said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands, my feet, and my side, that it is I myself.  Touch me, and see; For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they still hardly believed for joy and were marveling, Jesus said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and a bit of honey comb, and he took it and ate before them.

(You will notice that Jesus did not mention blood, but only spoke of his flesh and bones. His resurrected body did not need blood, because his blood was placed on the mercy seat in heaven granting us eternal salvation. Although the life is in the blood, our new resurrected bodies with enjoy eternal life not needing physical blood; but bodies being able to walk through walls and locked doors. Also notice that Jesus enjoyed eating. In heaven there will be a marriage banquet, and much celebration.)

Then Jesus said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “This was written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

And when he had said this, Jesus breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

(You may be wondering why Jesus breathed on those in the room, and said, “receive the Holy Spirit.”? And then told them to go to Jerusalem and seek for the Holy Spirit; and be clothed with power?

This was a new dispensation, and when Jesus breathed on those assembled there, they received eternal life, and became “Born again,” Saved, or you might say changed into a new person with the Holy Spirit now abiding in them. Jesus was telling them there was MORE, and they would discover that on the day of Pentecost as they would be praying in the upper room, and would be baptized into the Holy Spirit with Power to minister under an anointing.)

So for today's message, we leave the disciples ready to believe but still confused. Are you confused?

Be not confused for God has given you understanding to believe that Jesus is the Messiah.
If you invite Him into your heart and life, you will be saved and your sins will be forgiven.
