Angels Watching Over Me

Angels Watching Over Me

Jochebed, was a desperate mother as she dabbed pitch in a small basket to make it water proof, and trusted her older daughter, Miriam to carry the baby boy inside the basket and place it in the water where the Princess would come to bathe. You will remember the story how the Princes discovered the baby Moses, and decided to raise him as her own. That day, besides the babies sister, there were Angels watching over the child and orchestrating the entire delivery process.

Angels are usually invisible spirit beings, but they often appear as people.

Genesis 18 reminds us of Abraham and a heavenly visit: And the Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth and said, “O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, So they said, “Do as you have said.” And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick! Take some fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.” And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.

They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.” The Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

These were not men as we might suppose, but angels appearing as men, and one may have been the Son of God because Abraham addressed one of them as Lord.

We should not judge Sarah too harshly, because we too at times find that when a prophesy is given that seems impossible, we tend to snicker and smile, but may we remember the words of the angel; “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

Hear the word of the Lord, Angels are hovering over our city waiting for our positive words to send them on their way, opening doors of salvation over our citizens as they tear down mindsets that hinder their choices.

Angels are ministering spirits sent to minister for us and they are listening to our positive words to see if they agree with God's words and God's will for our city over our families and our very lives.

This is why it is important to confess the scriptures daily, because angels heed the commands of the Lord and of His Word. As we pray over our city we can charge the angels to go and prepare the way to remove the mountains of adversity and clean the atmosphere to become a condition of deliverance.

Our Words are important as we speak, simple every day communication. Angels are listening and when we talk negatively about our families, our city our nation, they fold their hands and are helpless to fight for us. When we speak what we know is God's will, it is then that they will lift their swords and go forth to prepare the way of salvation.

  • Angels are strong (I Chronicles 21:16 And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, and in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

  • Angels are powerful: Revelation 18:21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more;

  • Angels are radiant from being in God's presence – they shine with God's glory - -

  • Luke 2:9 (ESV) And an angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.

  • Angels are not all-knowing Matthew 24:36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

  • But they are wise (II Samuel 14:20) - - like the wisdom of the angel of God to know all things that are on the earth.” Angels understand man's ways but they are desirous to work with us to accomplish God's will.

Peter was in prison, when an angel appeared telling him to get dressed quickly as it was time to leave the jail. The doors opened and the gate swung open. Until Peter reached the street, he did not realize this was actually happening and thought he was dreaming.

God has great things in store for our city, our church, our families, and it is up to us to keep in an attitude of faith and expectation.

We may not understand it, but angels are watching over our citizens that occupy our streets, many of them are homeless.

Psalms 91 reminds us that we can say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler; And from the perilous pestilence.

He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.  Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.  Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

 (Why is this I must ask?)

BECAUSE - - -

He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
