Communion and Who is Worthy to Partake?

Communion with Jesus

As we prepare to receive the Lord's supper we shall begin by Reading a portion from - -

1 Corinthians chapter 11: 17 “ Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be inner circles among you, that those who are approved may be among you. 20 Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."
Who then is worthy to partake of the Lords Supper? Turn in your Bible to 2 Chronicles 7:14 “ if My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
We are going to take this verse apart.
If My People who are called by My Name - - This means a choice must be made; to chose to become God's People, and then understand your identification that you are called by God's Name. Identity is more important that self esteem, we must be identified with Christ. When He was nailed to the cross, we were nailed to the cross, when he died, our OLD selfish nature died with Him, when he rose from the dead he offered us forgiveness and release from our sins, which means we no longer hold on to things that disturb and grieve the Holy Spirit. We chose to be Christ like in actions, motives, and attitudes.
Next is that we humble ourselves. The very finger of God is pointing at you and He desires to use you, but - - God desires to tear down attitudes of control and we must humble ourselves. This means that we are willing to be broken before the cross, and leave pride in the grave, seek the best for others and not just for ourselves. God is seeking people with a willing attitude to follow His will and His guidance.
And Pray and seek my face: This means to come before God in Full Surrender, begging Him with tears and yielding to Him, giving up our Fleshly desires and asking Him to take us and mold us into a vessel fit for service. We are to allow the Holy Spirit to fill us so full of his light that all darkness must go.
And Turn from their wicked ways: Not so much our sins, but this includes repentance for our 'ways.' Ways means the things we do... our very attitudes and the things of the world that we allow to fill our thoughts and actions. Ways that are comfortable to us, habits we don't want to let go of. Fantasies and Thoughts that take up much of our time. It is time to give up our foolish 'ways.'
Then God will hear, and he will forgive and not just heal our land, but revive us again and prepare us as individuals and our church for an amazing revival.
So when we have searched our hearts, our 'ways,' and are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to do some adjusting we shall take a moment of silent prayer and give Him permission to do this in us.  (Pause and examine your heart)

Institution of the Lord’s Supper

As we prepare to partake of the Lords Supper, we understand that Jesus said He is the bread of Life, and that He is the bread that came down from Heaven. The life is in the Blood and His blood was shed to cleanse us from sin, and also his blood is light and life to our spirit and to our flesh. As we partake of the bread and the cup, we are claiming that by His stripes we are healed in every area of our being. Our spiritual salvation is secure as we have accepted our identity in Him, however salvation extends to our emotional being and to our physical body. Jesus died so that you might be free and useful to Him. As we partake today, realize that God desires to use you to further His kingdom.
1 Corinthians 11:23  For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.  Amen and amen
